Downloads and Installation
Pencil can run on both GNU/Linux and Windows as a Firefox addon or a standalone application using XULRunner.
The latest stable version of Pencil is 1.0.6 and the current development version is 1.1-rc2. Pencil can be installed using the following options:

Option 1:
Use as a Firefox addon.
Pencil can be installed into Firefox 3 as an addon. After being installed, Pencil can be launched by using its own menu entry in the Firefox Tools menu.
Install stable version (Link to the Mozilla add-ons homepage for Pencil, version 1.0.6)
Install dev version (Version 1.1 release candidate 2)

Option 2:
Run as a standalone application.
Thanks to the XULRunner project which provides Pencil a way to run completely outside Firefox. XULRunner builds of Pencil 1.1 development version are available for the following platforms:
GNU/Linux
- Fedora 11/12: evolus-pencil-1.1-1.i386.rpm (~ 500 KB, requires xulrunner-1.9 or above)
- ArchLinux: available as a package in AUR (maintained by tinhtruong)
- Ubuntu Jaunty/Karmic: evolus-pencil_1.1-1_i386.deb (~ 470 KB, requires xulrunner-1.9 or above)
- Other GNU/Linux: Pencil-1.1-1-linux-gtk.tar.gz (~ 500 KB, requires xulrunner-1.9 or above)
Windows
- Windows XP/Vista and 7: Pencil-1.1.1.win32.installer.exe (~9.9 MB, using private xulrunner)
MacOS X
MacOS build is still not available. Please check back later.
